Starting the BAPP course
Hello!
This is my first blog of undoubtedly many. Unfortunately I’m a bit of a technophobe so getting used to this new platform came as a challenge. However, I’ve managed to navigate around Blogger and read some very interesting blogs of those who are on the course as well.
I have been looking forward to starting this course for a while and it has always been something I wanted to accomplish after my professional training. After completing two professional contracts and waiting (patiently) to go back on another, I thought what better time to start this degree than now. As performers, we have been forced to leave our professions which for me personally has led to spending a lot of time at home. This time was much needed and when I look back I’ll always be grateful for it. Through this pandemic it has allowed me to reflect on many areas of my life, especially my profession; which is why now is the perfect time to start this course and focus on the deeper thoughts, reflections, networks and inspirations that make up my practice and have got me this far.
I look forward to starting this course and exploring my practice in a way I haven’t before. I don’t believe I’ve ever taken the time to really reflect, think about learning processes, explore my networks and focus on ethical considerations in my profession. Therefore I look forward to doing so and will probably recall on many things throughout my training and career that at the time I never gave much thought to. I’m also excited to meet new people from this course and see if the pandemic has changed the way we think about our practice as we begin to reflect on our past experiences.
Hi Niamh! I loved reading your blog. I agree, I don't think I have ever really reflected on my practise and so I'm excited to personally explore certain areas in my practise and also see where your reflection takes you! Ellie x
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie, I agree, I find it interesting how reflection has lead to me already thinking about so many things with regards to my practice, whether it be memories of things that happened at college or what's going on in the world currently. I'm trying to keep notes of this all as I go so I don't forget x
DeleteHi Niamh,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is spot on. I have never had the time to truly reflect on my practice either. I think it it is going to be a great way of discovering who I am as a performer and who I am in 'everyday life'. Reading the handbook (although very confusing at times) has already opened up my eyes to new ways of thinking and looking at experiences.
It was great reading your blog and knowing that we are here for the same reasons! Can't wait to read your next blog and connect further.

Hello,
DeleteYes I couldn't agree more! I had never really thought about learning processes or web 2.0 deeply but after reading the module handbook it has really made me reflect and try to answer questions that came into my head as I was going through it.
Looking forward to connecting with you and the rest of the module one participants x
